Mory Ghomshei, Ph.D., P.Eng., P.Geo.
Shortly after receiving his Doctorate Degree in Geothermics, Mory Ghomshei came to Canada in 1984, to work on B.C. Hydro's first Canadian Geothermal Project. He is a Professional Engineer and a Professional Geoscientist in the Province British Columbia and the Chair of Canadian Geothermal Energy Association since 1988. During the past two decades, he has worked as an international consultant in the field of geothermal energy. He has published over 50 papers in this field and has been involved in assessment and development of many geothermal resources around the world, including, Coso in California, Meager Creek in British Columbia and Sabalan in Azarbaijan. As a director of the North Pacific Geopower (presently Western Geopower), he played a key role in resurrection of the Canadian Geothermal power project at Meager Creek. He is presently a consultant to Western Geopower. In the low-temperature area, he has designed several commercial geothermal heat pump systems in British Columbia, including a 90 KWt open-loop facility for the Lyn Valley Care Centre. (North Vancouver). Mory has worked for the University of British Columbia since 1985 as a research scientist and an adjunct professor. He teaches a gradate course at the Department of Ming Engineering on "Energy Resources of the Ground" with focus on geothermal energy. He also works, as Director of Business Development at Gasmaster Industries, where he promotes high-efficiency hybrid gas/geothermal systems.
